How to read this lumpsum calculator
Use this for one initial investment with no later cash flows. The projected gain is before any charges and taxes. Compare the future amount with inflation separately when considering purchasing power.
Worked example
₹10,000 at −10% annually for two years becomes ₹8,100, a loss of ₹1,900. A negative return is supported.
Method and assumptions
Future value equals the initial amount multiplied by (1 + annual return) raised to the entered years. Fractional years use the same mathematical exponent.
One initial investment grows at the entered effective annual return for the selected years, including fractional years. Negative returns above −100% are supported. No further cash flows, fees, taxes or inflation are modeled.
