How to read this xirr calculator
Use money leaving your pocket as negative and money received as positive. Include a final portfolio valuation as a receipt if you want to measure a holding you still own. XIRR annualizes the dated cash flows; it does not forecast the next year.
Worked example
−₹1,000 on 2025-01-01 and +₹1,100 on 2026-01-01 gives 10.00%. A receipt of ₹900 on the same final date gives −10.00%.
Method and assumptions
Solve for the annual rate that makes the discounted sum of cash flows zero. Discount periods use actual elapsed days divided by 365; the calculator rejects ambiguous repeated sign changes.
Enter comma-separated amounts and matching dates. Investments are negative and receipts positive. Dates are sorted and amounts on the same date are combined. This calculator supports one change of sign in the resulting cash flows; repeated sign changes may have multiple or no solutions and are rejected.
XIRR uses actual elapsed days divided by 365 and annual compounding. For example, −1000 on 2025-01-01 and +1100 on 2026-01-01 gives 10.00%; receiving 900 instead gives −10.00%. Fees affect the result only when included in your cash flows. Rates extremely close to −100% or exceptionally large rates may be outside the supported range.
Calculations run locally. Share copies only the calculator link, without your amounts or dates.
This calculator provides an estimate based on the values entered. Actual investment, tax, or bank results may vary due to fees, timing, compounding rules, taxation, and market movement.
